Services: Label Design
Design that's built to print
Anyone can make a label look good on a screen. We design it to survive the press — right bleed, real dieline, exact color, a barcode that actually scans. Bring an idea, an existing file, or nothing but a product. Design fees are quoted separately from printing.
The difference we design in
A screen file and a press file aren't the same thing
Tap each marker on the label. This is the layer of work that decides whether your label prints clean the first time — and it's exactly what you get when your manufacturer designs it.
Bleed
Artwork extends past the cut line so a hair of misregistration never leaves a white sliver on the edge. Setting bleed correctly is the single most common thing that decides whether a file runs or bounces back.
Six presses' worth of "why did this bounce?" built into how we set up a file. See the full artwork checklist →
How it works
From "I have an idea" to a label on the roll
Step 1 of 5
Send an idea, a sketch, an existing label, or your brand assets. You do not need a finished file to start.
Not sure where your project fits? Tell us what you're making and we'll tell you honestly what the design work involves before anything starts.
Label design FAQ
Does Certified Labeling Solutions offer label design services?
Yes. Label design is a service we offer alongside manufacturing, with fees quoted separately from printing. Help ranges from getting an existing file production-ready to adapting a label for a new size or material to designing a new label. Because we also print the job, the artwork is built for how it will actually run on press.
How much does label design cost?
Design is quoted per project, separately from the printing, because scope varies widely. Prepping or adjusting an existing file is a smaller job than designing a new label from scratch. Send us what you have and what you want, and we will quote the design work clearly before anything starts.
Can you fix or adapt my existing label artwork?
Yes, and it is one of the most common things we do. That includes adapting a file to a new label size or material, correcting bleeds and margins, setting up the dieline, specifying Pantone colors, and getting barcodes to grade. If your label prints somewhere else today but the file needs work, we can get it press-ready.
Do I need print-ready files to order custom labels?
No. If you already have print-ready artwork, we run it. If you do not, we can help get it there, or design the label with you. You do not have to arrive with finished files to get a label made.
Can you match my brand colors?
Yes. We print up to 7 colors and match them to Pantone (PMS), so we specify your exact brand colors in the artwork and reproduce them on press. Getting color defined correctly at the design stage is what keeps it consistent from the first run to every reorder.
Why have my label manufacturer design the label instead of a graphic designer?
A label can look right on screen and still fail on press: a bad bleed, a barcode that will not grade, a dieline that does not match the actual die. When the manufacturer designs it, the artwork is built to run correctly the first time, on your real material and size, with barcodes verified before production. It closes the gap between the design and the printed label.
Have an idea, a file, or a label that needs work?
Send us what you have and what you want it to become. We'll tell you what the design takes and quote it separately from the printing — no guessing.
